With the luxury of time, perhaps a lowered expectation, and some haze-inducing drugs, a kind of sublime, relaxed psychedelia can be the happy result when you see Auckland's not The Church...but damn close, perform 'Live' in concert. not The Church...but damn close are a Duo that deliver a unique psychedelic and Sonic full band sound, performing songs from Australian Psychedelic icons 'THE CHURCH'.

If you don't know much about 'THE CHURCH' or their music, you may remember 'Under The Milky Way' ? or perhaps 'The Unguarded Moment' ?

They are an iconic and incredibly melodic two guitar band with such a melodic original sound.

Even if you havent heard their music (but you love Alternative physchedelic Guitar Rock) then we're damn sure you'll love how we do this.

Originally formed back in 2011 as a Solo Act by Auckland based Musician and former 'MOCKERS' Guitarist - Paul Lightfoot, 'not The Church..but damn close' also features Tauranga based Multi-Instrumentalist Steve Laffan.

They create and Produce their own authentic and complex Backing Tracks (Real Drums / Bass Guitar) for their 'live' performances. This is backed up with 'LIVE' electric Guitars / acoustic guitar and Vocals. The result, a very Sonic full band sound.

Auckland’s Radio 95bfm Gig Guide said; “If you’ve never got the chance to see ‘THE CHURCH’ ‘Live’ in concert, then 'not The Church..but damn close' are the next best thing. They do it so well”.
